A Warning Regarding the “Love All” Movement

There are some missing pieces in the current “love all” movement that we see in culture and churches. This new wave of social pressure to break down moral barriers to make us all feel a little more comfortable sounds very appealing. Who would be a bad person to challenge the idea that everyone is loved and welcomed?

The truth is, as followers of Christ, we are absolutely required to love our neighbors and show kindness to everyone we meet. It’s easy to equate love with accepting every potential action option. I personally wish it was this easy to love everyone as God calls us to love. Everyone does what they want, which we call good.

God’s Word teaches and models a more complex view of love. It’s important to take the time to learn what God says about love before sticking with love stories that can push us away from God’s heart. Not everything that is good for our eyes is good. Wisdom is invaluable and something we must seek in a world filled with competing and cunning voices. The Bible is our refuge and Jesus is our hope. These are places we can lean on when we’re not sure what the next right step should be for him.

Luke 21:36 “Therefore take care, praying each season, that you may escape from all these things that are about to happen, and that you may be found worthy to stand before the Son of Man.” increase. We must seek what is good, noble, worthy, true, hopeful and pure. The narrow path to Jesus isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it.

What is Biblical Love?

1 Corinthians 13 This book is known as “Love Passages” because it thoroughly explains what love is by our Creator. The entire passage is worth reading, but let’s focus on the next part. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. It says: “Love is patient, love is kind. It is not envious, it is not bragging, it is not proud. It is not defamatory, it is not selfish, it is not easily offended, it leaves no record of wrongdoing. Love is evil.” does not rejoice in the truth, but rejoices in the truth. will always protectalways trust, always hope, always persevere…”

love always protects

Why do we need protection? We live in a fallen world. There are limits to what our bodies can and cannot do here on Earth. You can’t breathe underwater, so if you stay underwater for too long, you’ll drown. Each of us is born with a specific set of DNA that determines many things about us. This can be frustrating, but it’s a limitation that we have to accept and do our best to manage well.

As followers of Christ, we have additional restrictions on how we can best live our lives. We are called to love God, love others, and be holy or special. God gave us the Ten Commandments to base our lives on moral laws that keep us safe. It also gives us clear instructions on how to express ourselves in terms of our desires and sexuality. All followers of Christ must give up their earthly identities and desires. It is said that when we receive Christ, we become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). In God we live, move and exist (Acts 17:28).

Love without boundaries leads to death

God warns that there are ways that seem right to humans but lead to death (Proverbs 14:12). We cannot trust our own eyes alone. Immersion in the Bible is so important that its timeless truths keep us on God’s path.

The love that the world clings to and that much of the church is determined to embrace is love without boundaries. But boundaries are key to a God-centered life. Even at the beginning of creation, before the fall, our ability to spend eternity in the garden with God depended on surrendering to the boundaries set by God. God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit of the tree in the center of the garden (Genesis 3). The disobedience of Adam and Eve brought into our world the struggle we all endure every day today. Churches and cultures are beginning to bend God’s Word, and instead of leaving even the hardest and most frightening parts of us to God, we believe that God can change his design to better suit our will. believe.

Accepting God’s Love Brings Freedom

We all struggle in one way or another. I suffer from anxiety, depression, anger, etc. We all have thorns that make this life difficult. Among our conflicts are addiction, trauma, lust, pride, greed, same-sex attraction, dissatisfaction with our given body and gender, medical diagnoses, and the list goes on and on. Christian life is about surrendering our struggles to our Creator and asking him to help us follow Him and His Word. Even if it feels impossible, God promises to give us the strength we need to overcome. This is how we find freedom!

Without boundaries, you can’t see where you need to grow. If all is accepted and the Bible has nothing to do with the life we are called to, we are doomed. Taking away sin removes the need for a Savior. When we start saying what God said is wrong or right, we become more and more blind to our great need for salvation, and as a result, we are lost in darkness more than ever. . this is not love. This is who the blind leads the blind to the path of death.

God’s love shows us new ways. It protects us from evil beings in this world. God’s word is trustworthy and powerful. God’s love sets us free so that we can live our best lives centered on Jesus. We can entrust our struggles to him.

All of them are full of mysteries. It is very difficult for us humans to find the right balance between grace and truth. As followers of Christ, our job is not to condemn, but to point others to Jesus and let Him do the work that only He can do to change our lives. We can show kindness and mercy to all, but we cannot change God’s word for our own comfort. We must stand by our truth and share our love through our actions.
