You can use sweetened or unsweetened applesauce in this recipe. I used sweetened, but either works fine. Nuts can be added easily. I’ve made this many times, sometimes with pecans added, sometimes without. This bread is really delicious and a great use of bananas.

“I made two smaller loaves. I freeze one. I added chopped walnuts to the dough. I used regular applesauce because it was on hand. I love your recipe!”
