Sweet and juicy, loaded with fresh apples and just the right hint of spice, this apple cobbler is a fall and winter dessert favorite that we enjoy all year round.

How to make apple cobbler

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Butter an 8-inch baking dish. In a large bowl combine apples, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir to coat and pour into the prepared baking dish.
  2. In the same bowl as the apples, mix the cake flour, white sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix with a whisk.
  3. Add the grated butter to the flour mixture and mix with a fork. Stir the boiling water until many small chunks of butter remain.
  4. Spoon the topping onto the apples. (I like to use my smallest cookie scoop ) Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the topping.
  5. Bake the cinnamon apple cobbler until the skin is golden brown and can be cleaned by inserting a toothpick into the skin, about 28 minutes. Top with ice cream of your choice.
