30,000 athletes participated in the 127th edition of the Boston Marathon, which runs 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston. However, some runners seem to have to wait days or weeks to receive their participation medals. The BAA confirmed Monday evening that some marathon runners who crossed the finish line towards the end of the race did not receive their finisher medallions. “BAA is aware that some finishers have not received their medallions at approximately 5:15 p.m.,” said a written statement from a media spokesperson. “We are beginning to reach out to affected athletes to ensure medals are provided to finishers as soon as possible. The BAA congratulates all finishers in this year’s race.” Medals will be mailed.
