Earlier Tuesday, Renner’s publicist, Samantha Mast, provided details of the accident that landed Renner in the hospital, and said the actor was near his home in Nevada and was clearing his driveway prior to the incident. said.

At 8:55 am PT Sunday, authorities received a call to 911 to report a snowcat (a device used to clear snow) collided with a pedestrian on Mount Rose Highway.
There was no snow at the time of the accident, but the Mount Rose Highway was closed due to “severe winter weather” and had not yet been cleared, Balam said. He added that about 13 to 20 abandoned cars were also on the highway and difficult to maneuver.
The first department of the sheriff arrived at the scene at 9:30 a.m. PT, where emergency medical services were on the scene and providing assistance to Renner, Ballam said.
Balaam said Renner was run over by Snowcat after it started rolling while Renner was not in the driver’s seat. He was injured while trying to return to Snowcat.
Ballam said Renner was using the Snowcat to clear snow around his car at the time of the accident.
Balaam added that authorities did not believe Renner was drunk during the incident, calling it a “tragic accident.”
A spokesperson for Renner previously told CNN that he suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.”
The 51-year-old actor has had two surgeries so far to deal with his injuries, a source close to the actor told CNN.
Ballam said on Tuesday that Renner was awake and speaking to first responders when he arrived at the scene.
When Renner was injured, Balaam added, his neighbors offered help and brought towels while waiting for first responders.
The actor was the only person involved in the accident, the sheriff’s office previously said in a news release.
Ballam said the helicopter landed near the highway at 9:37 a.m. PT, and at 9:56 a.m. PT, Renner was taken to a Reno-area hospital.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office now owns Renner’s Snowcat and is analyzing it to “rule out the possibility of mechanical failure.”
Ballam said Renner was allowed to drive the snowmobile because he shared it with neighbors and was on a private road not controlled by the county.
