24 March (Reuters) – Microsoft (MSFT.O) has threatened to cut off access to its Internet search data. Rival search engines are licensed if they don’t stop using it as the basis for their artificial intelligence chats. Bloomberg News reported on Friday.

The company has told at least two customers that using a Bing search index — a map of the internet that can be scanned in real time — to feed its AI chat tool violates the terms of their contract, the news agency said. The story was told by multiple people familiar with the matter. Controversy.

Bloomberg added that Microsoft, based in Redmond, Washington, may also terminate its license to provide access to its search index.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
