Polaris has launched an online marketplace called Xchange, allowing enthusiasts to find new and used powersports vehicles anywhere in the country. Vehicle types available for purchase on site include ATVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and the famous Slingshot.
The company explains that it set out to make exchange A one-stop marketplace to streamline the buying process and accommodate changing buyer preferences. The site’s main purpose is to connect buyers to new and used vehicles, but enthusiasts can also access a range of research tools, including free history reports and vehicle condition reports. The interface is very simple. Shoppers can choose whether to buy a new or used car, choose the type of car they want to buy, and (if they already know what the buyer wants) choose the model.
As of this writing, Xchange is set up to connect dealers and buyers. You can only find powersports vehicles listed by an authorized Polaris dealer. Private partial sellers are not allowed to advertise. The trade-off is that the list of vehicles that can be submitted to Xchange is rather large. They include snowmobiles, motorcycles (Polaris owns Indian Motorcycles among others), side-by-sides, autocycles (including his Slingshot pictured), ATVs, and various off-roaders. Dealers can also list vehicles of manufacturers that are not part of the Polaris Group.
Most of the purchasing process can be completed online. Buyers can browse add-ons for the vehicle they wish to purchase, purchase various accessories, contact sales dealers, determine the value of the vehicle they are trading in, and pre-qualify for a loan. Once the sale is complete, you can pick up the vehicle from the dealer or have it delivered to your home. Polaris describes this as a win-win. Buyers can order new snowmobiles and more from their couches, and dealers can reach more buyers.
