Hal Bailey and Fantasia Barrino It made its official debut on Monday with the first trailer for the upcoming film. “The color purple” The film is a reboot of the classic 1985 musical based on the novel of the same name by Alice Walker.
“Dear Celie, we have more than just kings and queens.” Young Nettie of Bailey said in the trailer. “We are at the center of the universe.”
The film will be Barrino’s major motion picture debut, “American Idol” winner. Barrino will star as Celie, the character she played in the 2007 original Broadway her show. In the reboot version, it is directed like a movie.
In the background of the trailer, the Broadway musical hit “I’m Here” plays, and Bailey, Barrino, Taraji P. HensonHER, Colman Domingo, Phylicia Pearl Mpathi, Corey Hawkins, Daniel Brooks.
Brooks will reprise the Tony Award-nominated role of Sophia alongside Cynthia Erivo and Jennifer Hudson in the 2015 Broadway revival.
Described by Warner Bros. as “a bold new take on a beloved classic,” the reboot “The Color Purple” explores the life and struggles of a black woman in the early 1900s South.
The 2023 movie will be Oprah Winfrey – She won an Oscar for her role as Sophia in the Steven Spielberg original film. Spielberg will also serve as a producer on the remake, which will be directed by Blitz Bazaul.
In April, Winfrey appeared at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to preview the film and told the audience that the 1985 film was “the biggest and most important thing that happened to me.” She added that it still has “great personal meaning”.
The Color Purple will hit theaters on Christmas Day. The film is a Warner Bros. Pictures production and is part of Warner Bros. Discovery as well as CNN.
