In the middle of Motorcycle Week celebrations, the drivers took off and they were left lying on Watson Road.
“We both loved jumping into the air and then landing on the ground. It turned out not to be good for us,” Vitiello said.
Lying in a hospital bed, Vitiello said he felt a vague sense of the accident.
“It happened too soon and he’s gone,” said Vitiero.
He and his friends are expected to be fine, but said the road to recovery could be long and could take up to a year.
“It hurts a lot. I had one operation to put a splint on my foot, but I’m going to have another operation on Tuesday to put metal rods, screws and nails in my foot,” said Vitiello. ”
Police said the driver was wearing a yellow helmet and the motorcycle was a blue Harley-Davidson Sportster.
