of denver broncosThe season is halfway through, but it’s Sunday carolina panthersWith the franchise having its first franchise quarterback since Peyton Manning, Denver was set to compete in the AFC West and make it to the Super Bowl after acquiring Russell Wilson.

Wilson was terrible and the Broncos offense was a disaster as a result. Denver has the lowest points per game in his NFL, with him not exceeding 23 points in any game this year, and he has exceeded 20 points only twice. Against Carolina on Sunday, the Broncos scored just 10 points, adding further frustration to a team that boasts one of the best defensive units in the league.

That was enough for Broncos defensive tackle Mike Purcell — and made it known to Wilson in a very public moment.

“Frustration,” Purcell said. Via ESPN“We all want something to spark.

“clearly, [the defense wasn’t] We’re doing our job, but somewhere there has to be a spark. They’re going out on the field, that’s all.”

An Eddie Pinheiro field goal attempt to extend the Panthers’ lead to 20-3 saw Purcell called for an unnecessary roughness penalty, which didn’t help with 13:33 remaining. The defense knows they can’t give up 20 points if Denver wants a chance to win. Purcell has just reached boiling point with a team that has lost seven of his last eight games.

Wilson also cleared the case. He’s one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the game yet has just eight touchdown passes in 2022. He plays in a defense that allows him just 17.6 points per game. I understand where the parcels that I want are coming from.

“He ran out after they kicked the field goal. He was pissed off,” Wilson said. “He just said, ‘Gosh, you gotta go F’in’ go,’ and I agree. We’re on the same page – there’s absolutely no animosity there.”

Denver’s season was off the charts with a 3-8 record. Things aren’t getting any better. Wilson has presented the team with a challenge, but he may be too late to accept it.

“We have to win. We have to come here and have some grit and mentality on us,” Wilson said. “We have to win these football games. They are fighting every play and attack. We have to be able to capitalize on that.”

“There’s nothing there, me and him- there’s nothing there.”
