My dad literally perfected how to make a tortilla pizza that’s light, crispy, and topping-deserving. That’s his specialty.
The secret to this recipe is how you can make the dough crispy (not sticky) and topped with your favorite toppings.
No special tools or ingredients needed, just tortillas, shredded cheese, pizza sauce and your favorite toppings.
What is tortilla pizza?
A tortilla pizza is just like a regular pizza, except you don’t need to measure the flour and wait for the dough to rise. This pizza is made with a pre-made tortilla his wrap, and with the simple method below, you’ll have the most perfect pizza in minutes.
In addition to basic toppings such as shredded cheese and pizza sauce, you can add your own toppings.
It’s the best!
- quickly, easy pizza dough. No rolling pin, no yeast, no leavening required.
- The tortilla pizza is crisp, lightly oiled and baked to perfection.
- Get creative with your toppings. This recipe is extremely versatile.
- It’s ready in no time, so it’s perfect for weekday dinners or after-school snacks.
tortilla pizza ingredients
Tortilla – Use store-bought flour tortillas for this recipe (try mini tortillas for a handheld snack). Low-carb tortillas can also be used for this recipe.
pizza sauce – Choose your favorite pizza sauce or make your own homemade pizza sauce in minutes. Add chili flakes for a spicy accent.
cheese – Mozzarella cheese is the perfect cheese for this recipe because it melts well in the oven. But a spicy Monterey Jack or a soft cheese like goat cheese is fine too.
Topping – Olives, bell peppers, mushrooms, pepperoni, fresh basil and healthy shredded chicken are all great additions to this pizza. Instead of oregano, try a homemade Italian seasoning or add Italian sausage.

tortilla pizza
This method makes the best crispy tortilla pizza.
-
Preheat oven to 425°F. Place a baking sheet in the oven to preheat while it is warming up.
-
Place 1 tortilla on a cutting board and brush with olive oil. Flip over and sprinkle 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella on top. Place a second tortilla on top to form a tortilla “sandwich”.
-
Slide the tortillas, oil side down, off the cutting board onto the preheated baking sheet. Bake for about 4-5 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown.
-
Remove the tortillas from the oven and grease the underside. Flip the tortilla so that the browned side is facing up.
-
Brush the browned side of the tortilla with 1/4 cup of pizza sauce. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano or basil over sauce.
-
Top with 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese and 1 tablespoon shredded parmesan cheese. Add your favorite pizza toppings, such as pepperoni slices, mushroom slices, or any other topping of your choice.
-
Return tortilla pizza to oven and bake for an additional 4 to 5 minutes or until bottom is browned. Bake the pizza for 1 minute, if desired.
The side of the pizza that is in contact with the skillet will be the most browned. Make sure the pan is hot before starting.
Add toppings according to your taste. We love pepperoni and mushrooms. Cook the mushrooms (or other moist toppings) before adding them to the pizza.
