Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has emerged as a finalist. Stanford Head coaching job, multiple sources with knowledge of the search process told athletic on thursday. Here’s what you should know:
- Garrett, who was NBC’s color analyst this season, said: Notre Dame Game, almost became a head coach duke Last season was taken over by Mike Elko.
- Sacramento State coach Troy Taylor is among the other finalists, according to sources.
- Candidates spoken to by the school who are no longer running may BYU Virginia manager Bronco Mendenhall, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman, and former Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio.
Since longtime Cardinal coach David Shaw, Stanford has conducted interviews with many candidates announced his resignation It’s unclear how many other contenders remain in the mix.
Garrett went 85-67 with Dallas from 2010 to 2019, but was hired as the New York Giants’ offensive coordinator in 2020. He was sacked for his 10 games into his 2021 season. He joined NBC Sports last April.
Shaw, who coached Stanford University from 2011 to 2022, resigned after the final game of the Cardinals’ 3-9 season. I lost records in three of those seasons.
