“He was laughing,” Kidd said. His grit for his DP tonight was at a high level. The hallmark of that team is that they played hard and found ways to win. ”

Less than four minutes into the game, the 23-year-old superstar began limping after pivoting in the post and stepping on the foot of a Suns defender. Doncic did not fall to the floor, but he quickly defended by grabbing his left ankle and dragging his leg. When the Mavericks got the ball back, Jason Kidd his coach called a timeout.

Casey Smith, director of player health and performance, met Doncic on the court when play stopped and walked directly into the locker room with him.

Doncic has not missed a game through injury this season, missing just five of the Mavericks’ first 50 games.
