According to ESPN’s report, Oregon State seems to be a big deal in the quarterback transfer market as Clemson’s DJ Uiagalelei is expected to commit to the Beavers.

Uiagalelei, a five-star high school quarterback from Empire, Calif. who signed with Clemson in 2020, completed his bachelor’s degree this fall. More recently, Wiagalerei was thought to be deciding between his OSU, Oregon, and Hawaii. If he signs with his OSU, Uiagalelei would be the most high-profile transfer in the school’s history. Oregonian/OregonLive confirmed the news.

At 6 feet 4 inches and 235 pounds, Wiagalerai has two years left to qualify.

Wiagalerai passed for 2,521 yards and 22 touchdowns as Clemson’s starting quarterback this season. 3 In his season, Wiagalerai completed his 515 of his 860 passes for 5,681 yards and he scored 36 touchdowns. Wiagalerai is also willing to run because in his 3rd season he tallied 913 yards and he tallied 15 touchdowns.

Wiagalerei’s 2022 season has been rocky. In the ACC Championship game against North Carolina, Wiagalerei was benched after two series. Freshman Cave Krabnik led the Tigers to a 39-10 win. Early in the season, Krabnik came off the bench to rally Clemson in a 27–22 victory over Syracuse. The Tigers lost to Notre Dame and South Carolina when Wiagalerei was ineffective. Wiagalerai’s best performance came in September in his 51–45 win over Wake his Forest, scoring 371 passing yards and his five touchdowns.

The day after Clemson defeated North Carolina, Krabnik was named the Tigers’ starter for the Orange Bowl game against Tennessee. The following day, Uiagalelei put his name on the transfer portal.

Speaking on his decision to move, Uiagalelei wrote on social media: I am so grateful to the staff, trainers and coaches for believing in me and pushing me every day to be my best on and off the field. ”

The former St. John Bosco High Star was the No. 2 prospect in the nation in his 2020 class when he signed with Clemson. Coming off his two starts as a true freshman, Wiagalerai quickly made an impression as he passed for 781 yards and his four touchdowns in games against Notre Dame and Boston his college combined. I was.

This week has been full of positive news for Oregon State’s football program. Last Saturday, the Beavers defeated Florida in the Las Vegas Bowl, where he beat Florida 30-3, making him the third team in school history to win 10 games. On Wednesday, OSU announced he’s one of the best signing classes of the last decade. The next day, some offensive lineman Grant Starck, who was being chased by the Power 5 program, announced he was planning to move to Oregon State University.

If Wiagalerai signs with Oregon State, spring practice numbers will be dramatic at the quarterback position. Wiagalerai will face returning starter Ben He Galbranson, who is Las Vegas’ most valuable player in his bowl. Additionally, OSU will welcome his acclaimed freshman quarterback, Aidan Childs, this spring.

Earlier this week, Wiagalerai’s brother Matayo, a defensive end and one of the nation’s top 20 recruits in the 2023 class, signed a contract in Oregon.
