Report: MRI confirms high ankle sprain for Patrick Mahomes

The result was encouraging for Kansas City.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, an MRI confirmed that Mahomes suffered a severe sprained ankle and that Mahomes had no other significant injuries.

As Mahomes said Saturday night, Shefter reiterated that the quarterback plans to play in next week’s AFC Championship Game.

Mahomes was clearly hobbled by an ankle injury, but returned to the game in the second half after missing just 13 plays. The quarterback went 15-for-10 with 111 yards and one touchdown in his final 30 minutes, and overall he went 30-22 with 195 yards and two touchdowns. Finished.

Kansas City will have another day off before playing again next Sunday. But Mahomes’ practices are worth watching throughout the week.

The Chiefs will play the winner of the Bengals-Bills next Sunday at 6:30 PM ET.
