Bungie is reviving Marathon as a PvP extraction-style shooter. It looks as sci-fi and dynamic as you’d expect from the team that developed Destiny 2.As a benchmark of quality in a world of high-stakes services, it’s only natural that the studio would want to take things to the next level with Marathon, and the plans seem to be doing just that.

Apparently, the idea of making Marathon the “ultimate live service” has surfaced several times. A source said the team is aiming for single-digit load times from prep to live play on servers.
Players of Escape from Tarkov know that alone is a game changer. What’s more, the various maps of the Marathon hide secrets that will make the community go crazy. In fact, Tarkov has been referenced repeatedly with essentially the same core his gameplay his loop, Insider explained:

In addition, Tarkov staples like Permadeath will be introduced, and solo players will be able to join the action, but will be pitted against duos and trios. Obviously, some kind of oxygen system is also in action, and we plan to further enhance the hardcore survival elements. Exploding cartridges from being shot was mentioned as an example, but other injuries (bleeding, concussions) can have a negative impact on gameplay as well.
