Many people use iPhones as their main camera because modern smartphone lenses capture images with impressive quality. Even if your camera is good enough by default, there are some settings you can change on your iPhone that can help you take better photos and videos. Read on as we detail how to do that.
You can switch camera modes and change some options directly in the native Camera app, but some settings can only be found within the iOS Settings app. To do so, open the Settings app on your iPhone and select[カメラ]Go to menu.
turn on the grid
Framing people and things in photos and videos may not be as easy as it seems. However, enabling the grid in the camera app changes everything. Grids make it much easier to hold your iPhone in the right position and have your main focus.
Find the Grid option in the Composition section and turn it on. Now every time I open the camera app on my iPhone, the grid lines appear.
ProRAW and ProRes
Starting with the iPhone 12 Pro, Apple has allowed users to capture images in ProRAW format directly in the Camera app. For those unfamiliar, a RAW photo is essentially the original image captured from the sensor with minimal or no post-processing. It contains all the data about brightness, shadows, colors, etc. that can later be edited in image editing software such as Adobe Lightroom.
With the iPhone 13 Pro, Apple has also added support for ProRes video. This is a codec with minimal compression that ensures high quality files suitable for post-editing.
You can enable both ProRAW and ProRes in the format menu within the camera app settings. If you have an iPhone 14 Pro, you can also choose to take ProRAW photos of him at 12-megapixel or 48-megapixel resolution. Turning those options on will show his ProRAW and ProRes buttons in the camera app. If you want to capture photos and videos using these formats, just tap them.
Note that these options are not available for non-Pro iPhone models. Also keep in mind that ProRAW photos and ProRes videos take up more space on your iPhone storage than regular formats.
mirror front camera
By default, all photos taken using the iPhone’s front-facing camera are flipped. This is because the iPhone does not capture exactly what is displayed on the screen, but flips the image to display text etc. correctly. However, if you want to capture the selfie exactly as it appears in the camera app preview, you can.
Just turn on the mirror front camera option in the composition section of the camera app settings. If you turn this option on, your selfie will look exactly as you see it in the preview.
macro control
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro feature a macro mode built into the ultra-wide-angle lens, allowing users to capture really close-up images. This mode turns on automatically depending on the distance between your iPhone and the object you’re pointing at, so it might be annoying for some people. Luckily, you can turn it on manually only if you want to use this option.
To do this, enable the macro control option in the camera app settings. Now when the iPhone gets very close to an object the macro button will appear and will only activate if you tap it.
photo style
introduced by Apple photo style These are presets with varying tonality and warmth values that can dramatically change the look of your photos while preserving things like sky colors and skin tones.
Choose your photo style directly from the Camera app or in Settings[写真のキャプチャ]section of[写真のスタイル]You can tap an option to select it.
Change video resolution
The iPhone camera app allows you to quickly switch between different resolutions and frame rates before shooting a video. However, you can choose more resolutions and frame rates by changing these options from the Settings app.
For example, set your iPhone to record video at 720p resolution to save storage space, shoot slow motion video at 1080p resolution at 240 fps for better quality and smoothness, or record 24K video at 4K resolution. You can also capture cinematic videos at fps or 30 fps. iPhone 14.

Keep settings
When you take photos or shoot videos with your iPhone, you can make many adjustments like changing exposure levels, choosing filters, enabling ProRAW, and more. By default, these settings are reset each time you close the Camera app. But if you want to keep them, there are ways to do it.

When you’re trying to take a photo or record a video with the Camera app, try swiping your finger up on the screen to bring up a menu of additional options. There you can do photo styles, change aspect ratio, apply filters, set aspect ratio, etc.
