Victor Wenbanyama already feels ‘comfortable’ in San Antonio
Victor Wenbanyama has spoken out about the whirlwind he’s faced since being drafted by the Spurs.
Victor Wenbanyama’s debut film The San Antonio Spurs jersey isn’t coming this weekend.
The Spurs announced Wednesday that the No. 1 overall pick will not join the Sacramento team in the California Classic Summer League, but will join the Las Vegas team in the NBA 2K24 Summer League.
The Spurs will face the Charlotte Hornets on Monday and the Los Angeles Lakers next Wednesday before heading to Las Vegas.
Once there, he opens summer league with the Hornets and No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller on July 7 before facing the Portland Trail Blazers and No. 3 overall pick Scoot Henderson on July 9. .
After last Thursday’s draft, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters there were plans for Wenbanyama to play in the summer league, but had not yet decided how much he would play.
Wenbanyama is coming back after playing a full season in the French league, including the final game which ended just a week before the NBA Draft. Wenbanyama told French newspaper L’Equipe this week that he will not be competing in the FIBA World Cup this summer so he can focus on preparing for his rookie season.
Wenbanyama will join the Spurs in summer league practice this week before the team leaves for Sacramento on Saturday.
