amazing change
The Yankees pinstripe uniform is one of the most iconic uniforms in the world. Especially for a team that takes history and tradition as seriously as the Yankees, it’s uncomfortable to see sponsor patches on uniforms. The reaction will be cruel. Fans won’t like this at all, but like most changes it will eventually blow away into the background. But for someone who’s been watching the Yankees for 27 years, seeing anything other than jersey pinstripes can be a bit of an adjustment. — Kirschner
You have to pay Aaron Judge’s signing fee somehow, right?
In all seriousness, this has always happened. It was only a matter of time. Teams around the world have their advertisements prominently displayed on their uniforms. does it look good? No, can fans do something about it? So it remains and the rich get even richer. hang on. Student loan repayments will begin soon. Hey Star Insurance, I can slap your logo on my forehead for a fair price. — Kuti
back story
MLB and the players union have agreed to introduce jersey advertising in their latest collective bargaining agreement. The NBA became the first major North American sports league to allow advertising on jerseys, beginning the 2017-18 season. The NHL will begin using jersey patches during the 2022-23 season.
In addition to the patch, a Star Insurance sign will be placed on the outfield wall in front of the bullpen for the home and visiting teams at Yankee Stadium. Starr is a “premier global insurance and investment organization” with its largest office in New York.
“We are extremely proud to welcome Star Insurance as the first Signature Partner in Yankees history,” Yankees President Hal Steinbrenner said in a statement. “Having welcomed Starr as our insurer over the past decade and worked closely with their management team as part of a pre-established partnership makes Starr the right company to embark on this ground-breaking relationship. It is clear that it is.”
