Becoming a grandparent is a milestone event that brings many blessings. However, if you’re taking on this role at a relatively young age, you may be wondering if you’re ready for the responsibility.
My husband and I became grandparents at age 41. All sorts of questions crossed my mind as we still had small children at home and had no idea what was expected of us.
But our doubts flew out the window with one look at our newborn grandchildren. The blessings we held in our arms put things in perspective and realigned us with our God-given purpose. It’s been 11 years since that day and he has now seen how God turned our anxiety into one of the greatest blessings on this side of heaven.
If you’re a young grandparent, here’s why it can be a blessing.
1. You have the energy to keep up with them
Recently I was out jogging with my grandkids on scooters. My oldest grandson said, “Wow, Nana, I can’t believe I can jog!” His remark made me laugh. Also thank God I had the energy to keep up with them. Blessings like this remind me of what it’s like to be a young grandparent.
Our grandchildren sometimes exhaust us, but we can Do a lot to stay active and keep up with the latestHere are some activities to consider:
– Hiking, biking, or swimming
・Camping and nature walks
– play basketball
– playing tennis
・Play table tennis
In addition to being physically active with my grandchildren, I enjoy being involved in sports, music, art, 4-H, and other school club activities. Being young grandparents gives us the energy we need to be active and enjoy every minute with our grandchildren.
2. You can keep up with trends

With today’s technology, grandparents need to stay up to date and keep up with some trends. Please note that I have mentioned some trends – not all of them will be beneficial to our grandchildren or us.
Whether it’s posting funny TikTok videos or searching for silly memes, our grandchildren will love it if we do something that interests us.
– Stay modest and interested in fashion trends.
– Know who you follow on social media and advise you to be careful.
・Watch an interesting and beautiful movie.
-Listen to music they like while pointing out questionable lyrics.
– Go to concerts, sporting events, festivals.
Remember that you can have fun with your grandchildren and listen to the latest trends while maintaining godly standards. Hopefully they realize your limitations and start asking questions that lead to more discussion from Scripture. Ultimately, we want to connect with our grandchildren so that they too are encouraged by our faith.
3. Watch it grow
As young grandparents, you have the advantage of watching your grandchildren reach important milestones such as their first step, first word, or first day of school. I can be there to provide support and encouragement as you get through it.
Psalm 145:4 To tell, “One generation praises your achievements to another, and they speak of your mighty deeds.” Psalm 71:18“Therefore, O God, do not forsake me in old age and gray hair until I proclaim your power to the next generation, and your power to all future generations.”
Watching your grandchildren grow is a precious blessing from God. Take every opportunity given to you to share the gospel good news and encourage your relationship with Jesus.
With each passing year, we have yet another reason to thank God for what he has prepared for us. be intentional in the life of our grandchildren.
4. Can help parents

We have the opportunity to support our grandchildren and help their parents on the journey called “parenting.” As you know, parenting is not for the faint of heart. Sometimes our children need a break. Thanks to our young grandparents, we are able to step in when needed and provide all the support we can.
・Nursing and staying overnight for grandchildren
・Meals ・House cleaning
– Running errands
-provide a listening ear
・Sharing life
I believe it is God’s design that families should be able to support each other and be available. When we become grandparents at an early age, we have even more opportunities to help our children raise them and fulfill God’s plan. What a blessing it is to have the energy and resources to do that! . helping children as parents our grandchildren!
5. It takes years to share Jesus with them
Sharing Jesus with our grandchildren is the most important thing we can do, and being a young grandparent gives us a few years to talk about our Savior and live as an example. Our hope is that all our grandchildren will come to know Him as their personal Savior. And we get the chance to sow the seeds and water them as they grow.
As a young mother, I rarely felt like I had time to stop what I was doing and pay close attention to my children. I want you to know that I am here.
I will continue my faith and pray God gave me the opportunity to share Jesus and lead my grandchildren to the Savior. I believe this is my primary role as a grandparent, and I want to live a long life until it bears fruit.
