ASUS Radeon RX 7900 Series TUF Gaming Specifications Officially Revealed

ASUS has become the first board partner to fully confirm the clock speeds of their custom Radeon RX 7900 GPU.

As reported last month, ASUS is the first company to announce a custom Radeon RX 7900 GPU. These TUF Gaming cards are based on the 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT SKUs, with a 3.6-slot custom triple-fan design that also equips him with three 8-pin power connectors. ASUS has confirmed the clock speeds that apply to each of the four models announced.

ASUS’s official specifications list so-called “default” and “OC” modes. The latter is the highest official specification that can be applied via ASUS software called GPU Tweak. As such, this is not an “out-of-the-box” specification, but the highest officially supported and verified clock speed that does not affect warranty.

The Radeon RX 7900 XT has a default game clock of 2300 MHz and a boost clock of up to 2500 MHz. For the Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU, this is 2000 MHz and 2400 MHz respectively.

ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition

  • OC mode:
    • Up to 2615 MHz (boost clock) +4.6%
    • Up to 2455 MHz (game clock) +6.7%
  • Default mode:
    • Up to 2565 MHz (boost clock) +2.6%
    • Up to 2395 MHz (game clock) +4.1%

ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XT OC Edition

  • OC mode:
    • Up to 2535 MHz (boost clock) +5.6%
    • Up to 2175 MHz (game clock) +8.7%
  • Default mode:
    • Up to 2500 MHz (boost clock) +4.1%
    • Up to 2130 MHz (game clock) +6.5%

The OC Edition of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX TUF Gaming GPU has a default clock of 2565 MHz, which represents a factory overclock of 2.6% (boost). However, in OC mode, the frequency exceeds AMD’s specification by 4.6%. On the other hand, the RX 7900 XT TUF OC model has a slightly higher overclock. By default, it ships with a 2500 MHz clock, which is 4.1% over spec, but 5.6% overclocking is applied via software in OC mode.

Game clocks are even higher, but with proper cooling, the GPU is more likely to hit the boost clock instead of the game clock. Overall, these performance upgrades are similar to the Radeon RX 6900 XT TUF OC Gaming GPU, but it’s worth noting that ASUS had his TUF TOP Edition higher up with even higher overclocks.
