(CNN) Granger Smith lives up to a higher mission.
The country singer has announced that she is leaving the music industry to focus on ministry.
“So hard to post this message. So hard to find words for this caption,” he wrote The video he posted on social media on Tuesday. “Not because I don’t believe in their truth, but because this means the end of the longest period of my life! Tour… 24 years.”
Smith will wrap up her performance this summer with the “Like A River” show. The tour was named after his son, River. He died in a tragic accident in 2019 at the age of three.
In his video, the singer said he was nervous about making the announcement.
“I felt a strong desire to pursue ministry,” Smith said. “This does not mean I will start a church or a Crusade or a revival. This means me and my family will serve our local church.”
Smith said he attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and is enjoying his time “learning and growing”.
“I’m so encouraged, hopeful, excited and joyful for the next chapter, but for the most part I don’t know how it will turn out,” he wrote in the caption. I just want to give glory to God in a way.”
