How To Make More Money on Amazon for Your Small Business

Amazon has often been seen as a giant online retailer slowly taking over every sector of commerce. Because if you need to buy something, you can usually buy it on Amazon.

But now Amazon is using its broad influence and power to recruit small businesses like coffee shops, street corner stores, boutique clothing stores and flower shops for delivery. This partnership effort will enable local small businesses in 23 states to earn extra income by completing Amazon deliveries in about the last three miles of their trips.

Working within the Amazon Hub Delivery program, each small business delivers about 30 packages a day, earning about $2.50 each, according to Axios. Amazon’s goal is to have 2,500 small businesses enrolled in the program by the end of 2023, and then expand to other states across the country.

Amazon Hub Shipping Program

Amazon wants to give its resources and extra dollars to small businesses willing to deliver an average of 30 packages a day, seven days a week, excluding major holidays. The tech giant is luring local business owners with incentives to “earn up to $27,000 annually by partnering with Amazon Hub Delivery to deliver packages locally.”

Here’s how it works: Amazon’s delivery service partner drivers are part of a network that leaves your package in a safe location with a local business. From there, the company is responsible for delivering the package to a destination within approximately 3 miles.

Amazon pays the small business once the package is successfully delivered. And Chachin: deposit extra money in the bank for the local business owner and his employees.

Who can participate?

Existing small businesses in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, South Dakota and Washington may be able to sign up for the Amazon Hub shipping program this year.

Amazon said it will cover at least 20 cities across the country, with Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Seattle at the top of the list.

If you’re a small business owner with a secure storage location to drop off packages delivered by Amazon drivers in any of the relevant states, you may be eligible to sign up.

Amazon marketing tells those interested in the Amazon Hub shipping program:

  • No prior delivery experience is required to participate.
  • There are no long-term contracts or obligations.
  • Packages can be delivered using existing staff, modes of transport, and personal devices to track and monitor programs.
  • Direct deposit payments are made weekly.
  • There are support apps that small businesses can download to help with tracking, planning, and other tasks related to deliveries.

The payment rate is $2.50 per package. Amazon hasn’t touted the full number of how much additional revenue companies can earn annually, but promotional materials highlight up to $27,000 in additional revenue per company.
