‘Kimberly Akimbo’ Wins Tony Award the best musical Sunday night.

The musical won five prizes, including Best Actress for Victoria Clarke, Best Actress for Bonnie Milligan, Best Musical Book for composer Janine Tesori and lyricist David Lindsay-Abair, and Best Original Score. Awarded.
The ongoing writers’ strike almost eliminated the Tony Awards ceremony, but a compromise was reached and the event was held without a script.
Ariana DeBose, who returned to host for the second year in a row, told the crowd that the show was “live and unscripted” when it began.
“To those of you who thought last year was a little shaky, I say, darling, buckle up,” she joked.
The Tony Awards ceremony was broadcast live on CBS from United Palace in New York City on June 11.
