Two women who actually got to speak to the monarch after spending two nights camping at The Mall told CBS News it was a “truly amazing” experience.
“I said to him, ‘Happy tomorrow,’ and he turned to us and shook my hand,” Joan said.
“He asked if anyone stayed the night. My hair stands on end. I said yes.” Then he leaned over and waved my hand. ”
Royal security details urged onlookers to put down their phones and enjoy the moment, according to the BBC.
Shortly after the three royals showed up, they got back in their car and drove to Buckingham Palace.
