Nvidia wrapped up its CES press conference by announcing its new desktop graphics card – the RTX 4070 Ti – along with its RTX 40-series GPU lineup for laptops and the new RTX 4080 tier for its GeForce Now streaming service. Here’s what you should know:
First, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. This is the renamed, repriced and relaunched version of the RTX 4080 12GB. Nvidia “deactivated” the card Shortly thereafter. Key to that move was the sense of confusion from gamers and the press that the card was too far removed from his 4080 16GB in price and performance as it wasn’t based on the same AD103 chip.
GPUs now appear to be in a more sensible position. A slight improvement over the popular latest-gen RTX 3080, it costs $799. DLSS 3 frame generation makes it up to 3x faster than the RTX 3090 Ti and uses almost half the power, but we’re looking forward to testing these claims. It’s scheduled to be released on the 5th, so you don’t have to wait too long!

We always expect a new generation of gaming laptops to arrive each year. In 2023, many of these machines will feature his Nvidia 40 series GPUs. Nvidia has announced a total of five laptop GPUs (4050, 4060, 4070, 4080, and 4090), but their releases are staggered. The first wave of laptops will come out on February 8th with his two high-end cards. Pricing starts at $2000, with entry-level and mid-range options available starting his February 22nd, starting at $1000.
As always, power budgets and thermal efficiencies vary greatly between laptop models and manufacturers, so expect to see a wide range of real-world in-game performance from laptops with nominally the same GPU. . Similarly, the smaller footprint and more modest power requirements of these mobile GPUs should mean that there is a distinct difference in performance between desktop and laptop versions of a given GPU. For example, desktop GPUs.
Finally, Nvidia has added a new performance tier to its GeForce Now game streaming service, giving PC title owners the chance to watch their games at higher resolutions and frame rates than is possible on their local device (especially when it comes to phone). tablet or laptop. New ‘Ultimate’ membership includes access to RTX 4080 with DLSS 3 support, adding generated frames between real frames for better visual fluidity with less latency Let This may be suitable for many game genres, but fast-paced titles may work better with the feature disabled. The company also estimates a number of 50 games that support DLSS 3. witch fire An outstanding title for me.
Nvidia cites 240fps gameplay and less than 40ms click-to-pixel latency. This is far beyond what you’ll likely see with competing streaming services, so it’s fascinating to see how this performs in real-world testing.
Nvidia also made some other announcements – their demos Video upscaling for Chrome and Edge was particularly impressive, but I’ll stop here.
All in all, a strong start to the 2023 CES calendar in my book, what are your thoughts on this announcement? Does the RTX 4070 Ti look appealing? Looking for a new 40-series gaming laptop? Let us know in the comments.
