The Royals arrive in Boston on Wednesday, two days before the second annual Earthshot Awards ceremony. Initiative William launched in 2019 Create solutions to environmental problems.
Their itinerary in the city includes everything from meeting Caroline Kennedy to visiting Harvard University.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson told ABC News, “TRH is thrilled to be traveling abroad for the first time since taking on news roles as Prince and Princess of Wales.”Both appreciate the history associated with the title. But of course we want to look to the future and carve our own path.”
Here are the daily highlights of William and Kate’s three-day visit.
Wednesday: Welcome Celebration in Boston
Landmarks around the city, including City Hall, will be illuminated in green to commemorate the Earthshot Awards’ focus on the environment.
Thursday: visits with at-risk youth
Our second day in Boston begins with a visit to Greentown Labs, an emerging climate technology incubator in Somerville, Massachusetts.
According to Kensington Palace, William and Kate will learn about “climate innovation” being fostered in Boston during their visit.
The couple will travel just a few miles from there to Chelsea, where they will visit Roca, a nonprofit focused on helping at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24, according to the palace.
William and Kate will meet with organization leaders and participants in the Young Mothers and Young Men program.
Friday: Earthshot Awards at MGM Music Hall
Friday’s main event is the 2022 Earthshot Awards ceremony, which takes place Friday night at Fenway’s MGM Music Hall near Fenway Park.
The ceremony, which will air worldwide on December 4th, will award five winners with $1 million in grants each to expand their solutions to help fix the planet.
The ceremony also included live performances by Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox, Ellie Goulding, Chloe Ex Halle, Rami Malek, Katherine O’Hara, Shailene Woodley and Danielle Dae Kim. and other actors will serve as hosts and presenters.
Early on Friday, Kate and William each attend another event.
William will tour the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum with Caroline Kennedy.
William believes that President John F. Kennedy’s 1962 “moonshot” challenge to land humans on the moon within 10 years inspired him to set the goal of finding solutions to repair the Earth within the next 10 years. It was the inspiration behind the Earthshot Award.
