Having witnessed Hyundai’s heavily redesigned 2024 Santa Fe debut, we were poised to make big changes to the mechanically-related Sorento. Admittedly, Kia’s midsize SUV is still only getting a mid-cycle update, so the styling changes won’t be this drastic. This facelift brought significant visual changes to a vehicle that still felt fresh considering the fourth generation model was unveiled just over three years before him.

The first official 2024 Sorento images show Kia completely reworking the front fascia to accommodate the T-shaped headlights, with the upper daytime running light strip flanking the Kia logo. By the way, the badge has been relocated to the bottom of the hood, so it is not on the grille. The grille has a new look and the lower air intake continues to feature independent fog lights. The vertical air curtain seemed a little bigger, and I also noticed a silver skid plate.

This is just a mid-cycle update, with the Sorento retaining the side profile but with newly designed alloy wheels. At the rear, the carefully revised taillights have new graphics and join at the front rather than separate units as was the case with the pre-facelift model. Kia appears to have moved the reverse lights even lower, under the silver skid plate.

The interior immediately looks familiar, but there are changes to the dashboard. For example, the chunky vertical vent in the middle is gone, replaced by a much slimmer vent to make room for the infotainment system’s large touchscreen. The South Korean brand has also modernized climate controls, getting rid of outdated displays that have been replaced with capacitive buttons similar to those on the EV6 and Sportage. There is also a fingerprint reader carried over from other Hyundai Motor Group models, as well as new interior colors (Interstellar Grey, Volcanic S, Brown and Cityscape Green).

In typical Hyundai/Kia/Genesis fashion, tech specs are revealed in mid-August, so this is just a design reveal.
