PHOENIX – Tempe’s 101 loop northbound lane was closed due to a crash on Saturday night.
Around 7 p.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation announced that the University Drive exit was closed due to a crash at 53 Milepost.
The crash site was about 1.5 miles west of Arizona State University’s Tempe campus.
The traffic jam got worse by 8:30 p.m.
Traffic was backed up to US 60, according to ADOT.
Expect delays for drivers wishing to enter the 101 loop in the area near University Drive and Price Road.
This is a common area where crashes occur.
ADOT advises drivers who want to get home on time to expect long delays and seek alternative routes.
ADOT has not announced when the highway will reopen.
