For some of us, it’s the hardest word to say out loud. These powerful words bring much-needed peace to our schedules, routines, and even attitudes. We know this from experience, but for some reason we have trouble using it. We keep learning how to say no. The most impactful lesson I have learned on my journey of faith is how to say no. To discern God’s best for me in all the things I want to do. As Solomon writes in Proverbs 8:11, it is a gem of wisdom more precious than a ruby. (And I secretly wish I had found it sooner.) It wasn’t easy. Not yet. I fight hard every time I say no and I am dedicated to the task. Because learning to say no doesn’t just bring us closer to God. For those of us who love to help and serve others, learning to say no means making time to honor and obey the Lord. So it takes a deliberate effort on our part, but the results are worth it. If you’re a woman learning to say no today, rest assured. I don’t mean to do it or disappoint others. We can reframe our view of “no” to clarify God’s divine assignment for us. Here are some encouraging tips as you learn the value of your no. Photo credit: ©Getty Images/Fizkes
