This crockpot sausage and peppers is a dish you’ll want to make over and over again. It’s very simple, but the taste is solid and it’s really delicious. The combination of spices, tomato sauce and Italian sausage makes this dish truly amazing. Again, very easy!
Crockpot Sausage and Peppers Ingredients needed:
italian sausage
green bell pepper
yellow pepper
tomato sauce
Onions (I used sweet onions)
garlic powder
brown sugar
dried oregano
dry virgin
salt
hoagie buns
Before anyone says anything… yes, we need brown sugar. A touch of sweetness makes this sausage great. You don’t have to eat it on buns, it’s just as good on rice. Super versatile. We like to use Johnsonville Italian sausage and it works well for this recipe, but any will do.
Can I double this recipe? Do you freeze well?
You can easily double this recipe and freeze leftovers or have enough for several meals. I like to have this meal several times in a row, it’s so delicious. We made this in a 4 quart clay pot. If you double the recipe, you will need a larger pan. A 6 quart clay pot should work just fine.

Just add potato chips and you have a very simple yet very tasty meal. This dish would be great for a large gathering and I’ve never served it and people didn’t like it.

crockpot sausage peppers
This easy claypot recipe with Italian sausage and peppers will quickly become a family favorite.
Portion: Four one serving
- 1 lb of Italian sausage (usually 6 pieces per package)
- 1 medium bell pepper sliced
- 1 medium yellow pepper sliced
- 1 15 ounce can of tomato sauce
- 1 cup of sliced sweet onions
- 2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoon of brown sugar
- 1 tea spoon of dried oregano
- 1 tea spoon of dried basil
- 1/2 tea spoon of salt

Place the Italian sausage, peppers, and onions in the slow cooker.

Mix all the seasonings and pour over the sausage, peppers and onions.

Stir together to make sure everything is coated with the sauce.

Cook over high heat for 3-4 hours or over low heat for 6 hours.

Enjoy it on a sandwich subroll or over pasta.
Since the package contains 6 sausages and some people may eat more than 2, I set the serving size to 4. Therefore, you can decide for yourself how many servings will be, depending on your family.
