This hamburger hash recipe is very versatile. You can add or omit almost any ingredient except the burger and fries. I love meals that are easy to put together and yet feel good. This hamburger hash skillet tastes even better when reheated. To be honest, it just keeps getting better and better. I use a 10 inch cast iron skillet, but a larger skillet will work as well. This is a great home cooked meal that my family loves.

Ingredients needed for Hamburger Hash:

Ground beef

Onion large, finely chopped

Peel the potatoes and cut into chunks

chopped green pepper

chopped cabbage

beef or chicken soup

onion soup mix

cumin

black pepper

salt

garlic powder

Worcestershire sauce

butter

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • Five or 6 potatoes peel and cut
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 small head of cabbage Chopped (about 2 cups)
  • 1 14.5 ounce can of beef or chicken soup
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 tea spoon cumin
  • 1/2 tea spoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tea spoon salt
  • 1 tea spoon garlic powder
  • 1 tea spoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • Add the hamburgers, onions, potatoes, and green peppers to the frying pan and cook until the hamburgers are no longer pink.

  • Add cabbage to skillet. Combine broth, onion soup mix, cumin, pepper, salt, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix all ingredients together.

  • Add butter. Bring all ingredients to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the lid and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and some liquid comes out of the pot.

You can add a little cornstarch to thicken it up if you want, but I never do this.
