A sealed, near-perfect boxed copy of Pokemon Yellow was recently reportedly completely expunged by U.S. customs, leaving collectors who paid thousands of dollars for the game understandably subject to “pointless damage.” I am upset.
I wrote last week, Destroying collectible versions of Pokemon Yellow worth $4,000 to $10,000Earning a 9.2 rating from grading experts WATA, this copy suffered damage to its case, seals, and box during shipping, greatly reducing its value.
We reached out to the game’s new owners, the_master_of_unlocking, to ask about their reactions to the game’s destruction. “My first reaction was of course shock. I was really disappointed and disappointed to see the pointless damage done to the game.” , “Looks like you destroyed the game box”[ed] This was overkill, considering there were other ways to open the game cardboard box than completely cutting the front. ”
The_master_of_unlocking says they started collecting about 20 years ago, mainly focusing on SNES, Sega Genesis, and Neo Geo System. While describing their great attention to detail, they admitted that they had begun to shrink their collections: they began to sift through much of my belongings, holding on to only a few items that mattered to me. ”
Among them was Pokemon Yellow. “I was completely hooked,” they said of the game. I wanted something that reminded me of the simpler times in my life…” which led them to this particular copy. This was close to the market rate and benefited from a useful currency conversion between Canada and the United States and was in good shape.
The initial shock of receiving a damaged item quickly led to anger. From there, the work to recover costs began. The_master_of_unlocking has worked with the seller (“I have been both communicating and working with them to resolve this case” and the seller is “as disappointed as I am with the outcome”) and the credit card company. but those efforts are ongoing.
The game was shipped by UPS, which “provides little protection by default unless the carrier can prove fault.” Since it is not covered by insurance and UPS is not at fault, especially since the_master_of_unlocking states that they do not plan to contact the airport or US customs, at least until the claim process is finished, I will not be able to proceed with PayPal’s claim process. It looks hopeful. that’s all.
Speaking of Pokemon Yellow best pokemon game list.
