The BMW X5 is getting ready for a mid-cycle refresh. Today we bring you a spy shot showing what that update looks like.
BMW’s camouflage is bright enough at the front that you can see the lower bumper being massaged by the new vent and lower grille design. However, as for the kidney grille itself, it has been slightly tweaked for refresh, but its size and shape are not much different from the current X5. not.
The specific model test spied on here is labeled as a hybrid electric vehicle on the sticker, so we suspect it is an xDrive45e PHEV model. You can read our PHEV-specific review here.
The X5 doesn’t change much on the side, but the rear end gets a notable makeover on the same level as the front. The taillights differ most obviously, as part of the LED design is revealed through the camouflage cover. You can’t look at the whole light and know exactly what it looks like, but it’s enough to know that BMW has made changes. All the other camouflage on the rear hints at a massaged tailgate and lower bumper design, but we don’t yet know what that will look like.
Interior shots aren’t seen in these shots, but BMW’s latest iDrive 8 interface is sure to take center stage with a larger, more prominent screen. We expect the model line to be fully revealed at some point in 2023, as we expect it to hit the 2024 model year.
