2024 Hyundai Sonata brings a fresh new look to the end of the road

The 8th generation Hyundai Sonata cannot help but fight. The current car (see video below) debuted in his 2019 with a bold face that the press appreciated to combat the anonymity of the midsize sedan segment. Car buyers, on the other hand, may not have been convinced. Company executives suspect the Sonata’s unconventional look is contributing to the sedan’s sluggish sales in the United States and South Korea. Sonata sales in the United States from 2004 to 2018 he exceeded six figures, and annual sales from 2010 to 2016 he is close to or above 200,000 units. Amidst talk of the ninth-generation Sonata’s absence, Hyundai is giving the current car another chance to impress with new front and rear clips and a revamped interior.

The design language called sensuous sportiness is exactly “the sportiness”. The ‘Seamless Horizon Ramp’ establishes a new attitude with it and across the width of the vehicle under the grille. Both the standard Sonata and N-Line have a crisp, toned look, with headlights housed in black inserts that blend into the overall fascia design. They are distinguished by a slightly different grille mesh and slightly more black trim on the racier model.

At the rear, the reshaped trunk opening and straight lines create a more technical stance underscored by the new ‘H ramp’. This is a pair of vertical lights for tail lamps connected by a full width light bar. The current car’s rounded profile under the rear bumper is honed to a muffler-like shape in standard trim and cut out to fit the N-Line quad pipes. His N-Line also has a slightly more aggressive decklid spoiler and a new 19-inch wheelset.

The Horizontal also dominates the overhauled cabin. A separate instrument cluster and infotainment area are integrated into his single curved display for the first time for Hyundai. There is a 12.3 inch screen for the driver and another screen of the same size for the infotainment. A full-length vent separates the center screen from the lower console. Designers moved the gear selector to the steering column, opened up the center tunnel area to lengthen the armrests, and added storage space under a nice-looking set of HVAC controls.

Hyundai plans to bring the sedan to the world with the unveiling of the Sonata at the Seoul Mobility Show on March 30.
