According to the Sacramento City Fire Department, five vehicles with people in them were trapped between downed and active power lines in Sacramento County. Officials say five cars with people trapped between downed and working power lines in Sacramento County.

Power lines are down near the intersection of Florin Road and Sunrise Boulevard, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said.

Authorities believe there were no serious injuries.

Both Metro Fire and California Highway Patrol were the first to respond to the emergency.

SMUD has worked to de-energize the circuit to the power line and is currently working on repairing the transmission lines in the area.

There is no estimated time for when the road will reopen.

Many of those trapped in cars have been released from the area.

One of those trapped told KCRA 3 he had a broken windshield.

Power outages across Sacramento

Approximately 32,431 SMUD customers across the Sacramento area lost power during Saturday morning’s blackout. According to the utility company’s blackout map.

Both SMUD and PG&E have workers to respond to power outages.

Call 911 and then PG&E at 1-800-743-5002 to quickly report a power line outage. Or, if you’re in Sacramento, you can report to SMUD. http://SMUD.org/stop.
