I love how easy it is to use a seasoning mix for such a simple recipe. Technically, this recipe only has five ingredients, but a good seasoning mix will add a wealth of different flavors to your dish.

My family loves creamy pasta dishes, but sometimes find them a little too bland. Peppers and sausage help keep things interesting. This recipe satisfies both my family’s craving for creamy sauces and their desire for a little more spiciness.

This meal begins with sausages being browned in a skillet. Spicy sausage already has a lot of flavor, making it the perfect base for one of our favorite meals.

Cajun Pasta Recipe with Sausage

You only need 5 ingredients to make this pasta.

  • Bite-sized pasta: fusilli, rotini, penne, and more.
  • hot sausage
  • 3 bell peppers, assorted, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • heavy cream
  • Cajun seasoning, adjust to desired spiciness

I’ve made this several times using bite-sized pasta I have in my pantry. It pairs well with penne, rotini and fusilli, and is a great accompaniment to small shells and farfalle.

Speaking of easy, I don’t think there are many easy pasta recipes. Even the pickiest of us eat pasta with pleasure. There are endless ways to add pasta to your dinner rotation without getting bored.

  • Boil the pasta in heavily salted water. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, drain pasta and set aside. While the pasta is cooking, sausages are cooked and crumbled in a large skillet over medium heat, about 5 minutes. Add the peppers and continue cooking, stirring frequently, until slightly softened.

  • Pour the heavy cream into a glass measuring cup, add the spices and mix. Pour the cream into the frying pan with the sausage. Stir and bring to a boil until slightly thickened and simmer for about 1-2 minutes.

  • Add boiled pasta and mix well. Add a little of the reserved pasta water only if the pasta looks dry. Remove from heat and serve hot. fun!
