easy crockpot ham
There are many reasons why I love this slow cooker ham recipe.
- With just a few minutes of prep time, you can set it and forget it.
- Crockpot ham is slow-cooked to ensure perfectly cooked, tender, juicy ham.
- Making ham in the slow cooker frees up the oven for other dishes.
- Customize your CrockPot ham with your favorite glazes and seasonings.
How to make crockpot ham
I like spiral ham, which is easy to cut and cook, but of course any smoked ham is fine!
- Sprinkle the slow cooker with a little brown sugar. Add ham.
- Mix the glaze and pour over the ham.
- Put the lid on and let the Crock Pot do all the work.
- We prefer our homemade glaze and ditch the packet of glaze that comes with the ham.
- You can add 1/2 cup of pineapple juice to the slow cooker if you want, but you don’t need to add the liquid to the slow cooker. Juice will be released from the ham.
Smoked ham should be cooked to a temperature of 140°F in a meat thermometer. For an 8-10 pound ham, this will take 4-5 hours. Be careful not to overcook the ham. This recipe uses smoked (fully cooked) spiral ham.
Consider the following when purchasing ham:
1/4 to 1/3 pound per serving of boneless ham
1/3 to 1/2 lb per bone-in ham
what to eat with ham
This is a great holiday recipe, perfect for Christmas or Easter dinners. Slice the ham and place on a platter and garnish with herbs or additional rosemary.
We serve this Crock Pot ham recipe along with many of the same sides on our Thanksgiving dinner menu. Garlic mashed potatoes, bacon green beans, 30 minute dinner rolls, fresh salad.
leftover ham?
Leftover ham can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat the slices in a skillet on the microwave or stovetop. Leftover ham can also be added to your favorite recipes.
Leftovers are sandwiched between ham sandwiches on toast or served with grilled cheese sandwiches. Add to soups and casseroles.
