It’s no secret that I love Chinese food. From kung pao chicken to egg drop soup, few things make me happier than when all the flavors and sweetness of garlic come together in one meal.
Most of the time, I prefer to skip ordering takeout and make my own favorite Chinese-inspired recipes at home. It’s usually just as fast and budget-friendly.
However, when it comes to egg rolls, we don’t always have the time or patience to wrap the filling in individual egg roll wrappers.
That’s where this deconstructed egg roll comes to the rescue. This dish loves all things pork egg rolls made with quick and easy egg roll stir fry.
If you can only eat a whole egg roll, you’ll love this egg roll-in bowl!

This easy pan-fried weekday meal is exactly what the name suggests. This is an egg roll that has been unwrapped, dismantled, and served in a bowl.
You can make similar egg rolls with ground beef or ground turkey in a bowl, but I prefer this version of ground pork. Pork with ginger and garlic is irresistible.
The ginger and chili paste in this egg roll stir-fry adds a little kick to my favorite Chinese restaurant’s re-creation of the best egg rolls.
Soy sauce and 5-Spice complete the irresistibly savory flavor, and a touch of cornstarch helps thicken the sauce to the perfect texture.
I used a bag of coleslaw mix to make this even quicker and easier.

Topping off the recipe with sliced scallions and wonton strips on top adds a nice ‘chewy’ factor to the meal.
Served over rice, this is a lightning-fast dinner that my family is always excited to devour!
It is also popular for casual lunches and dinners. I recommend keeping the wonton strips separate and adding them just before serving.
This way you can refrigerate leftovers and add a nice crunch just before serving.

The most time consuming part of any stir fry recipe is always chopping veggies (at least for me). .
All you have to do is tear open a packet of coleslaw cabbage mix, except for the garlic and ginger. Whenever I see ground pork for sale, I grab a few pounds and put it in the freezer.
I can’t stress enough how little work this recipe requires compared to the amazing flavors it offers.

- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork, ginger, and garlic to a frying pan, and stir-fry until the pork is cooked. Drain liquid from pan if desired.
- Sprinkle with cornstarch and five-spice powder. Stir to coat. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and chili pepper. Continue cooking until sauce forms, about 2 minutes. Add cabbage, mix, cover and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- When the cabbage turns bright green and becomes a little soft, place it on top of the rice. Sprinkle green onions and top with wontons if desired.
