Garlic Cheese Biscuits - The Southern Lady Cooks

These garlic cheese biscuits melt in your mouth and are a great accompaniment to any meal. If you love red lobster cheddar bay biscuits, you’ll want to save this recipe. So easy to make, so flavorful and one of our favourites. You can tell it’s delicious because it smells good when it’s baked in the oven. A perfect combination of garlic and cheese.

Garlic Cheese Biscuits Ingredients needed:

self rising flower

vegetable shortening or butter

shredded cheddar cheese

Buttermilk (you can also use regular milk)

sugar

garlic powder

salt (optional)

These biscuits are crispy on the outside but fluffy and soft on the inside. As you can see, these are just a few ingredients and can be made very quickly. You can shape it by hand or make a drop biscuit. Either method works fine.

To save time, you can use bagged shredded cheddar cheese, but if you’ve never shredded cheese yourself, it’s a good idea to try it. A bag of shredded cheese is nothing compared to freshly shredded. When the biscuits are finished, brush them with melted butter. very! very good!

You can also use regular milk in this recipe. We enjoy cooking with buttermilk. Added fat makes a great ingredient. You can always make a substitute if you don’t have buttermilk. No added fat, of course, but it helps to soften the sourness of the buttermilk. Learn more about.

  • 2 cup self rising flower
  • 1/4 cup vegetable shortening or butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk You can use normal milk
  • 1 tea spoon sugar
  • 1/2 tea spoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tea spoon salt option
  • Place flour in a large bowl. Cut with shortening or butter until pea size. Add garlic and sugar. Add cheese and milk and stir.

  • You can use a tablespoon of batter to drop the biscuits onto a sprayed baking sheet, or you can use your hands to shape them into larger biscuits. I did some of both in this batch.

  • Bake in an oven preheated to 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Brush with melted butter if desired.Makes about 18 biscuits
