Sometimes you just want a heaping plate of pasta. There’s something very comforting about carbs, and we’re totally here for that! Pasta just happens to be one of our favorite carbs on the block (potatoes are short seconds). also features hearty pasta, tender chicken for protein and delicious vegetables. Finished creamy with fresh cream and plenty of parmesan cheese. There are many reasons to love this meal. But the number one reason? Everything comes together in his one pan, so less dishes and cleanup.Who won’t Want it after a long day? Also, the production time is only about 30 minutes. Seriously, it doesn’t get much better than that.

What kind of chicken should I use?

We always opt for boneless, skinless classic chicken breast. It can be easily cut into bite-sized cubes and is one of the budget-friendly proteins. That said, if you have another chicken fillet that cuts evenly, use that instead. Boneless thighs and tenderloins are our top substitute!

Alternatives to heavy cream:

If you want this recipe to be a little lighter, you can replace the cream with half-and-half or whole milk instead. Another option is to stir and melt the cream cheese at the end. Start with a few tablespoons and add until you get the desired creaminess.

Can frozen vegetables be used instead of fresh vegetables?

We want to make this recipe as easy as possible. If you have frozen vegetables that you want to use instead of raw vegetables, by all means! That’s half the beauty of this dish. You can absolutely use whatever you have on hand. We recommend thawing frozen spinach and squeezing out excess water first.

Vegetable variations:

Speaking of using what you have on hand, you can also change the vegetables you use! Our one-pot chicken pasta features sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach. You can build from our suggestions and add other veggies, or get creative and use a completely different variety.

  • green pepper
  • beans
  • cauliflower
  • broccoli
  • Asparagus

Top off this chicken and pasta recipe with a healthy sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Add more cheese if you feel like eating pasta with lots of cheese. These are our favorites:

  • Mozzarella
  • ricotta cheese
  • Fontina
  • Pecorino Romano

Serving suggestions:

It’s hearty and you can enjoy it on its own. That said, if you want to top it off with a few other sides, you absolutely can. Below are some of our favorite salad and bread options.
