Tesla has posted a job posting for a vehicle operator to test its Autopilot system. Entry-level jobs require employees to operate Tesla vehicles for data collection.
“We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to assist with vehicle-level acceleration. [sic] Data collection.A vehicle operator will assist you in driving [the] Improve Tesla’s Autopilot system by operating data collection vehicles throughout designated regions and becoming an expert. This role requires a high level of flexibility. ”
Tesla’s vehicle operator positions are divided into three shifts.
Shift 1: 8am – 5pm
Shift 2: 4pm – 1am
Shift 3: 12am – 9am
The EV automaker has said the Tesla vehicle operator’s start date is July 31, 2023. This position is temporary and is expected to last at least three months. Tesla has said vehicle operators may receive extended assignments if needed.
Job Responsibilities of a Tesla Vehicle Operator (Test Driver)
- Clean driving record and safe driving habits
- Minimum of 5 years driving experience
- Good attention to detail and a high degree of observation
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Good PC skills, especially MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Familiarity with ADAS/autopilot systems and their sensors is preferred
- Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and how they work, such as braking and power-assisted steering, is desirable
The data that Tesla vehicle operators collect helps improve Autopilot. It could help Tesla develop fully self-driving cars in Australia as well.
