The Chevy Bolt EUV is the highest rated sub-$35,000 electric vehicle and has won the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award. Prices start at $27,200.

The Chevrolet Bolt EUV offers 247 miles of range for a sticker price under $30,000 and a wider rear seat than the standard Bolt. These are the three big reasons why we named it the best electric car under $35,000 this year.

All-new last year, the Chevy Bolt EUV joins the Bolt EV in the stable of Chevrolet electric vehicles. U means utility. However, rear occupants stepping out of the EV and into his EUV will appreciate the increased legroom. And that’s the main reason to choose his EUV over his brother. Because they have the same drivetrain and almost the same equipment. Another difference is that this Volt EUV’s top-of-the-line premier trim is now subject to the Super Cruise hands-free driving feature.

We’ll review the smaller 2023 Chevy Bolt EV separately.

There may be subsidies from the state. For example, the 2022 Bolt EUV qualified him for $2,000 from the California Clean Vehicle Rebate program.

For comparison, Nissan Leaf starting at $27,400Eligible for the federal tax credit, at that price the Leaf has just 149 miles of range. You can buy a Leaf with 212 miles of range, but the net cost is higher than the Volt EUV and its 247 miles, even after applying the full tax credit. Hyundai HYMTF,

Kona Electric is close to $31,000 and the Kia Niro EV is around $40,000.

Driving the 2023 Chevrolet Volt EUV

It’s not a sports car, but the 2023 Bolt EUV is agile enough and perfect for city driving where you need darts and brakes. Another attribute ideal for the Intown Grind is one-pedal driving. Unless a sudden stop is required, the driver does not need to apply the brakes often. Simply release the accelerator or push it back to start moving again.

This is made possible by the Bolt EUV’s Regen on Demand, with different strengths of brake energy recuperation. Access this one-pedal trick by clicking on the shift paddles under the steering wheel and selecting the highest level of recuperation.

For long trips on quiet roads (and short trips on busy roads) the Bolt EUV is a comfortable ride and the cabin is pleasantly quiet.

interior comfort

Being a slightly longer version of the Chevy Bolt EV (around 6 inches) and touted as having an element of utility, the 2023 Bolt EUV doesn’t exactly have impressive cargo-hauling capabilities. . Luggage space behind the 60/40 rear seats is 16.3 cubic feet, with the seats folded up to 56.9 cubic feet, these volumes are practically the same as the Volt EV.

Chevy decided to factor in the extra space in terms of rear legroom. This EUV he is 39.2 inches, comparable to a typical midsize sedan, and 3 inches larger than the Bolt EV.

The 2023 Volt EUV has a tech-rich aura thanks to the 8-inch Driver Information Display and 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. The materials are of decent quality, and the flat-bottomed steering wheel makes it easy for drivers to slip their knees under.

exterior styling

Chevy calls it an EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle). That’s because it’s more elegant than saying, “Floor-mounted battery he makes room for a pack, compact hatchback with ride height raised.” But that’s it.

This is not a criticism. This approach is similar to Nissan Leaf and Kia 000270.

The Niro EV. Hyundai Kona Electric leans a little more towards typical SUV styling.

The Bolt EUV maximizes its small footprint by placing short overhangs and wheels as close to the corners as possible. Also, using the standard roof rails makes it a little more practical.

The Redline Edition cosmetic package is new for 2023 and is available in any trim level. The chrome exterior elements have been changed to gloss black, and the specially designed alloy wheels are finished in black with red accents.
