Welcome to the weekend, my friend! We were in Louisiana this weekend and headed to Crawfish Boil this afternoon.

I plan to spend a few hours in New Orleans before heading home tomorrow morning. Basically enough time to walk a bit down Jackson’s Square and buy a coffee and a beignet at Cafe du His Monde. (That whole work and school life makes this a short trip.) If there’s something you really shouldn’t miss in the area, make a note of it.

on the blog This week: This spice and herb crusted pork roast is packed with pepper and salt flavor and an amazing kick Roasted pork sirloin makes a delicious dinner any time of day.

Our friend Tony’s Slow Cooker Baked Beans are chock-full of bacon and beef, sweetened with molasses and then simmered until thick and sweet. It is no exaggeration to say that

Crunchy and chewy.Sweet and smoky, I feel like Goldilocks when I eat this cauliflower broccoli salad Because everything is just the right amount. If you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself making and eating this salad over and over again!

If you’re a fan of strawberry and cream pairings, a sweet steaming bowl of strawberry and cream oatmeal is probably the epitome of breakfast comfort food.

Tender peas, sweet carrots, savory celery and onions in a creamy rich beef gravy with a buttery crust. Great ground beef pot pie.

Crispy, very soft and delicious air fryer crushed brussels sprouts Don’t miss the balsamic glaze. I dare to eat only one.

Crispy tuna, crunchy red onions and green peppers tossed with freshly boiled pasta and creamy tangy dressing for a colorful (and delicious!) tuna pasta salad.

No-bake cookies matched with these no-bake chocolate peanut butter bars. It doesn’t get much easier than mixing everything together and pouring it into a pot.

The dark chocolate ice cream is just the right amount of sweetness, perfect for chocolate lovers with a bittersweet twist.

What I crave: have you heard Danish dream cakeMy mouth waters when I think of the fluffy light cake topped with coconut caramel.

My Favorites this week my wireless earphonesI don’t know when I’ve been this happy with a $30 purchase, but they’re on sale right now for $25! My kids and I all have these earbuds, 18+ months With nearly constant use, no issues yet. They continue to work perfectly.

What I’m listening to: Walker HayesAdmittedly, I’m a little late to this party, but much of his music is simply delightful. He’s certainly not for everyone, and it turns out that country music purists aren’t his biggest fans. But that doesn’t stop me from enjoying his music.

what i am reading: Deep Work: Rules for Intensive Success in a Distracted World By Cal Newport.I am almost halfway through this and have no qualms about sharing it with you now. digital minimalism And I like it

Both shallow and deep work have their place in our lives, but deep work is usually more challenging and requires more focus. So, if it’s important for you to be efficient and do quality work, make sure you have regular distraction-free time. There’s a lot of fluff in the book as well, which is basically all common sense, but the story was interesting and motivating.

I found that each of these books is great to read on its own, and even better in combination. There’s a lot of solid information here that might make you rethink how you use your devices, even if you’re not necessarily interested in using less technology. If you’ve ever thought about the amount of time you spend immersing yourself, books can inspire you.

“Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and fear not, for the Lord God is my strength and my song and my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2 ESV

I wish you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
