2 cups of liquid, such as chicken or beef broth, milk, water, or tomato juice
4 tablespoons flour (you can use multipurpose or self-rising)
4 tablespoons oil, such as bacon drip, sausage drip or butter
Heat the oil or drip in a frying pan on the stove. Mix the flour to make a roux, cook until browned and stir to mix all the flour. Add 2 cups of liquid, salt, pepper, or whatever spices you are using, and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook to desired consistency. Make 2 cups of gravy.
As you can see, there are obviously three things. It’s some kind of stock liquid, flour and fat. We love this gravy on our fried pork chops, we made it with milk and it was delicious.
