HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 23-year-old man will be the 25th road fatality on Oahu in 2023.

A motorcyclist crashed his bike on Wilicina Drive in Wahiawa around 5:50 am on Thursday morning, May 4.

This is the ninth person killed in a motorcycle accident this year.

The Honolulu Police Department reported that a 23-year-old male motorcyclist was speeding north on Wilicina Drive.

This is when a motorcyclist wiped out another 23-year-old motorist who was about to leave the residential area and head for Willikina Drive.

HPD said as a result of the crash, a 23-year-old adult male motorcyclist had to be taken to a local hospital in critical condition by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

A 23-year-old adult male motorcyclist later suffered injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital, EMS said.

A 23-year-old male driver who was hit by a motorcycle suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

HPD showed that a 23-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

HPD held a press conference to address recent motorcycle accidents.
