Ingredients for making the best homemade crunch wraps

Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme Ingredients

Crunchwrap Supreme is easy to make at home in just a few steps and is perfect for using up leftover taco fillings of all kinds!

tortilla You’ll need a large tortilla to hold all the filling for this crunch wrap.

A loaded tostada covered in filling is wrapped in a flour tortilla. You will need a larger size. Be sure to warm the tortillas in the microwave for a few seconds so they don’t crack when you wrap them.

Stuffing I use ground beef and taco seasoning, but you can use any ground meat (or even chicken). Use a seasoning pack or make your own taco seasoning mix with spices like chili powder, cumin and garlic powder.

Cheese, shredded lettuce, and tomatoes cover the basics, but don’t be afraid to add your own favorites.

Crunchy tostada shells add crunch to this copycat crunch wrap supreme recipe. Small crispy corn tortillas that look like big round tortilla chips.

Separate hot (beef/cheese) and cold (lettuce/tomato) with crispy tostadas. If you don’t have a tostada shell, Replace with tortilla chipsCut off any sharp edges so they don’t tear when you fold the tortilla.

How to make a Crunchwrap Supreme

The magic of this recipe is the crunchy tostadas (or tortilla chips) placed in the center of each tortilla.

  1. Cook ground beef and seasonings (according to recipe below).
  2. Add meat mixture and nacho cheese to center of warmed tortilla. Top with tostada shells, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and cheese.
  3. Cut 1 flour tortilla in quarters and place quarters over topping. Fold the tortilla up and place it around the covered tostada.
  4. Fry crunch wraps in a little oil until golden brown on both sides.

Serve with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Serve with a pitcher of cilantro tomato rice and a simple strawberry margarita to wash down all the tangy goodness.

  • It is best eaten raw as it contains fresh vegetables and sour cream.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the microwave (lettuce won’t get crispy).

Deep fried until crisp and melty, this Crunchwrap Supreme is perfect for taco night!

total time 40 minutes

  • Cook the ground beef in a large frying pan over medium heat until the pink color is gone. Drain excess fat.

  • Add ⅓ cup water and taco seasoning to skillet. Stir and simmer uncovered 5 minutes or until thickened.

  • Meanwhile, cut one of the flour tortillas in quarters. Use kitchen scissors or a knife to round off the corners.

  • Place the remaining 4 tortillas on a plate and cover with a damp paper towel. Microwave for 20-30 seconds or until warm.

  • Add ¼ cup ground beef to center of each tortilla. Top with cheese sauce. Add tostada shells, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and cheese blend.

  • Place the quartered tortilla in the center and gently fold the larger tortilla around it to seal.

  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.

  • Add the tortillas, seam side down, to the skillet in batches and cook until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Flip over and bake the other side as well.

Place the hot filling on one side of the tostada and the cold filling on the other side.
Ground beef can be substituted with ground beef or pulled chicken.
If you don’t have tostada shells, substitute crunchy tortilla chips (break any sharp corners to avoid tearing tortillas).
Heating the tortilla will prevent it from cracking.
Lightly grease a large griddle to cook all crunch wraps at once.
