Why You’ll Love This TikTok Recipe

Many of us have tried recipes from popular apps and they didn’t work…well…not perfect..but this recipe does. It’s kind of magic. Also, I hope you know that I do not share untested and delicious recipes on TikTok or my website! , perfect for any occasion. And by using canned cinnamon rolls and all the store-bought items, you can have this dessert ready in just minutes.

Ingredients for cinnamon roll dump cake: canned cinnamon rolls, frosting, butter, cake mix, pecans

material:

This recipe is nothing from scratch…that’s exactly the point. Here’s what you need:

  • 2 cans of cinnamon rollsYou’ll want to get the ‘Gran’ style…you know what comes in 5 tins spread out…you’ll also need the icing, so save that!
  • 1 can of frostingYou can use any flavor, but only cream cheese frosting or vanilla really works best for this recipe.
  • chopped pecansYou can omit the nuts in this if you prefer, but I love the little crunch it adds!
  • coffee cake mix. Or it is sometimes called a “cinnamon swirl” cake. Brand doesn’t matter. Get the 21 oz box. I use the Krusty’s brand, but any brand will do. Mine comes with separate pouches of cake mix and cinnamon sugar mix.
  • butter! Simply slice thinly and place on cake mix.

How to make cinnamon roll dump cake

The beauty of this recipe is how easy it is. You literally throw everything into a 9×13 and bake!

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.
  2. Open the cinnamon roll and reserve the can of icing that comes in the package. Using a knife or kitchen shears, cut the cinnamon rolls into 1-inch pieces and place in a single layer on the prepared pan.
  3. Remove frosting lid and foil seal. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften. Stir until smooth and pour all over the cut cinnamon rolls in the skillet.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped pecan nuts over the frosting layer.
  5. Open the box of cake mix and sprinkle the dry mix evenly over the nuts. (If the cake mix comes with a separate pouch of cinnamon-sugar mix, sprinkle that on top as well.
  6. Slice the butter evenly and place the butter pats on top of the dry cake mix.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until center is firm and top is golden brown.
  8. Allow cake to cool for 10 minutes, then microwave the reserved cinnamon roll icing for 15 seconds, stirring to facilitate pouring.
  9. While it’s warm!

Tips for successful baking

This is a very easy recipe with a very high success rate. It’s impossible to spoil like most dump cakes. The only thing that can really go wrong here is overbaking or underbaking. Make sure the center is set so it doesn’t end up as a cinnamon roll in the dough.

Variation of cinnamon roll dump cake

This recipe is completely adaptable. Here are some ideas:

  • Add some chopped apples when adding nuts to create the apple cinnamon roll dump cake. Use 1-2 peeled and diced Granny Smith apples, depending on how many apples you need. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think it would also work well as an apple pie filling. The cake will be like cobbler with added moisture, but will still be delicious.
  • Many people like to put raisins in their cinnamon rolls, so feel free to add more raisins when you sprinkle them on the nuts.
  • Honestly, you can use any type of cake mix or flavor frosting with this recipe and it creates a whole new flavor profile. Be creative!
