Irish Whiskey Apple Cake is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, or any time you need a great cake. You can use your imagination and decorate it as you like. You can make a few different colored glazes and add some Easter eggs to make it completely different. I love using it with coffee.
Ingredients for Irish Whiskey Apple Cake:
all purpose flour
baking powder
baking soda
salt
ground cinnamon
ground nutmeg
Granulated sugar
butter
egg
vanilla extract
buttermilk
sour cream
grated apple
seedless raisins
Your favorite Irish whiskey (bourbon can also be used in this recipe)
pecan or walnut pieces
Glaze ingredients:
icing sugar
milk
vanilla essence (optional)
Irish whiskey (optional)
If you want this cake to pop on St. Patrick’s Day, add green food coloring to the glaze. A wonderful cake perfect to enjoy with friends and family. The apples give this cake a moist flavor.
If you don’t want to use alcohol in this recipe, you can easily omit it. As one person commented, you can either use applesauce to soak the raisins or just water.

Irish whiskey apple cake
This cake is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any time of the year. A lovely cake for any event.
Serving: 1 cake
- 2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tea spoon baking powder
- 3/4 tea spoon baking soda
- 1/4 tea spoon salt
- 1/2 tea spoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tea spoon nutmeg
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 12 tablespoon butter softened or 1 1/2 sticks
- 3 egg
- 1 tea spoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup grated apple Red Delicious I used about 2 tablespoons peeled and grated
- 1 cup seedless raisins
- 1/2 cup Favorite Irish Whiskey Bourbon can also be used in this recipe
- 1 cup pecan or walnut pieces
glaze:
- 2/3 cup icing sugar
- 3 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 tea spoon vanilla extract option
- 1 tea spoon Irish whiskey option

First, soak the raisins in the whiskey. The longer you soak, the better. Overnight or at least 6 hours is best. If you want to make this cake without alcohol, substituting raisins for the whiskey he soaks in 1/2 cup water.

Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg to a bowl and mix. Cream sugar, butter and eggs in a mixing bowl using a mixer.

Add flour mixture to cream mixture and continue mixing. Add vanilla extract, buttermilk, sour cream and apples. mix. Put in the raisins along with the unabsorbed whiskey and nuts.

Spray the bundt pan with cooking spray. Bake him in a preheated 350 degree oven for 50 to 55 minutes or until browned in the center. You can use glaze or whatever matte you like.
